Older than AGMA, ( American Gear Manufacturers Association ) , WilsonMachine

"Nothing endures but change."- Heraclitus

That ancient saying could well be the slogan for the Wilson Machine Co. Ltd. The company has grown and prospered as part of the industrial heritage of Montreal . The company was started by two uncles of the present President and CEO, Gordon Wilson. Will and Arthur Wilson started the company in 1913 on Nazareth Street in the Little Burgundy district of Montreal. Molson Export , Canada 's No. 1 beer was then only 10 years old. It would be 3 years until the American Gear Manufacturers Association or AGMA would come into existence.

Despite the family connection, Gordon Wilson started working at the firm at the age of 19 at the bottom. Now almost 60 years later, he directs the company in a much larger facility that the company moved to in 1967 close to the Lachine Canal in LaSalle, a suburb to the west of downtown Montreal .

The mission throughout the years has remained the same. The original, handwritten charter of the company invoked "King George the V and the Grace of God" and the gearboxes often still look like something made by Leonardo da Vinci. However the equipment in the 50,000-square-foot building is mostly computer-operated, with new acquisitions continually replacing older machines.

With such equipment, WilsonMachine creates precisely crafted metal parts, which are custom-made to fit gearboxes, conveyor belts and assemblies for the aluminum, pulp and paper, medical and defence industries. Its products can be found around the world from places as diverse as the Alberta Tar Sands to some of the harsh environments in which peacekeepers are currently operating.

Quality, reliability and durability are the company's hallmarks keeping customers loyal and highly satisfied. In 1997, as evidence of that commitment to quality, WilsonMachine became an ISO 9001 certified company and has updated its registration in 2004.

WilsonMachine is an Operating Name of Wilson Machine Co. Ltd.
